19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt
A revitalized Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since March of 2023.
Success also means he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
His counter-punching play style and recurring outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.
He rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Suitably, the winner earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
