Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the group reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
